Viper Jul 20, 2010
By dave After some difficulty with the shipping process I found the set to be quite manageable for assembly. Items were packaged well. Instructions are very easy to follow with minimal tools. I separated all parts prior to assembly. Product is sturdy and well designed. Excercise options are many although the chest press is not "true" and no military press. Great for the price if you have limited space in a room. Need to figure cost of plates as well.

Good sturdy home gym! Apr 15, 2010
By R. Shandy I was in the market for a new home gym and came across this item. I thought it sounded interesting but I could NOT find ANY type of review or opinion on the item. ****** bucks I decided to take a chance on it...I can now say..I am GLAD I did. The item came in 2 boxes TOTALLY disassembled so you basically have to put this item together from scratch. Do not let the 10,000 peices intimidate you as if you have put any item together you should be able to tackle this. I will say the setup instructions are poor but they serve their purpose. It took me around 5-6 hours to get the gym together (with just me and two adjustable wrenches). Once the gym is together it is VERY sturdy and holds my 6-3 240 frame with ease. Be sure to note that you will need Olympic Weight PLATES for this item. Along with setup instructions was a handy workout guide that illustrates each excersise the gym is good for (about 15 different ones). After a few days of use I am impressed so far. If you are looking to tone up this is the machine for you (men or women). The max weight for some exercises is 600lbs, with that being said I beleive even the avid gym-goer can use this for a real muscle burning workout.. DO NOT pass this gym up..give it a try.....you wont be dissappointed!

Excellent machine Aug 17, 2009
By gb93433 This machine is well made and works very well.
The only thing I do not like is how much weight is needed for the chest fly. It is capable of taking 300 pounds on each side but you would need 100 pound weights to be able to get that much weight on each side in such a short distance provided for the weights.
The other exercises can be done by stacking the weights on the other area provided for those weights. The machine allows for a total of 400 pounds to be stacked side by side. There is enough room for that.

Great quality, Great workout Dec 15, 2010
By sfoote I have been using this gym for almost a year now and in my opinion this is the best home gym you can buy dollar for dollar. I have owned several home gyms in this price range and I can say without a doubt that this unit uses higher quality components, better manufacturing technology, and for a cable-pulley system is much smoother (extremely smooth in my opinion) than similarly priced gyms.
Pros: Great manufacturing tolerances for really good part-to-part fit-up which is important for ease of assembly Super nice coating quality Good instructions (took me less than 2 hours to assemble...alone) Good quality pads/seats/handle pads (no loose stitching, no flaking/cracked foam, etc) Moderately small footprint Very stable and rigid No spotter needed
Cons: No weight equivalency chart (load vs. force required to move load through range of motion) Seat needs more elevation adjustment (I am 6'2" and I would like the seat to go lower so I can do military presses) Plastic pulleys, however, I use this gym twice a week for a full body workout and the pulleys and cables are still like new
Overall I think this is a perfect setup for someone who wants a quality gym that can withstand several heavy workouts per week. Heavy workouts for me are 175lbs per leverage arm and 200lbs on the leg/lat pulldown/row/squat leverage arm. Everything is still tight and smooth after almost a year of using this amount of weight.
I recommend adding a freeweight dumbell tree, a sit-up bench, and a dip station (like I have in my workout room) and you'll have everything a growing body needs!

Nice home gym for the regular user Oct 18, 2009
By Hans As an occasional user of exercise equipment, I used to be content with the Weider brand.A couple of years ago,I decided to get more serious about exercising.I got a Weider home gym for about $ 300.00. That was a mistake! Cheap plastic pulleys and skinny steel bolts can't hold up to regular use and I'm sure Weider Knows it! So I saw the Stamina Viper and now I knew what to look for.The Viper has heavy duty Pulleys, fat bolts and overall solid construction. For bench presses,it uses a leverage resistance, which doubles the weight on the stack(for the viper, you need"olympic"size weight plates). The unit has a relatively small footprint, but you need space all around to properly use it.Assembly is probably about six hours average, with basic tools. I'm looking forward to years of service from this sturdy machine
