| | Description | The Viper Surf Fins V-5 MODEL is designed to be an all purpose fin for both bodyboarding and bodysurfing. It has a five inch blade with the vertical side rails slanted down to a narrows tip. This slim profiled VIPER is very lightweight and has excellent acceleration, maneuverability, tracking, and burst speed. It uses shorter, quicker kicks. Look for a yellow splash on the blade. | |

The Best Bodyboarding Fins I've Had Oct 16, 2009
By Nadie I have bodyboarded since I was 14, and I started using the traditional churchill makapuu fins. I had to wear socks with the churchill makapuu fins because I noticed I started to get blisters on my feet when I used them, but I have never used socks with these viper fins and I have never gotten blisters when using them. I also used socks with the churchill ones because it made it more comfortable for me, but the viper fins have a neoprene pad that makes it very comfortable to have them on.
For those who like bodyboarding on dropped knee, my experience was that when I was learning it, I would get my feet stuck when wearing the churchill makapuu fins, which made it harder for me to learn. This is probably the most immediate reason why I decided to replace my old makapuu with viper fins. It made it easier for me to learn dropped knee.
Another thing I noticed from the viper fins was that the piece of rubber that holds the ankle was much thicker than the one in the churchill makapuu fins. After one year of using the makapuu fins, I noticed that cracks started to appear on this part of the fin, and if this part breaks (as it happened to some of my friends who bodyboard too), then the fin will not hold onto your feet. Since this part is very thick on the viper fins, it is virtually impossible that it breaks.
I've had the same viper fins since 2001, and they are still as good as new, while it did not take more than two years for the makapuu to wear down. Although the makapuu fins are larger than the viper, the propulsion I get with the vipers is similar. I can't imagine myself changing my vipers for any other fins right now or any time in the future. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants to start bodyboarding.
